Settings

The tuner widget gives you plenty of options for how to customize tuning your instrument. Settings are grouped into three tabs along the bottom of the screen: Appearance, Tuning and Input. OnSong remembers the tab you used last and opens to it next time.

Appearance

These settings control whether the tuner is listening and how it looks.

Enabled

This switch will toggle listening for tones on and off.

Font Color

This is the color that the font and other LED elements of the tuner appear in. By default, this is a semi-translucent black color. However if you set the opacity to 0%, you may want the text and other elements to be a specific color.

Screen Color

This settings lets you customize the background color of the tuner screen. The default setting is the configured app color.

Opacity

Controls the opacity of the background allowing the background to be visible underneath. The eye button beside the slider shows or hides the tuner widget.

Tuning

These settings control which notes the tuner listens for.

Instrument

By default, Automatic is selected and the tuner uses the instrument configured for the song. However, you can also change the instrument to one that you are currently using including: Guitar, 5 String bass, 4 String bass, Ukulele, Baritone (ukulele), Mandolin, Banjo, Violin, Viola, Cello, or Double bass.

Tuning

The tuner widget displays the notes of the instrument above the currently heard tone. Changing the tuning will display notes for that tuning. Choose Automatic to follow the tuning set for the song. This section only appears when the instrument has more than one tuning.

Base Frequency

Sets the reference pitch of A that the tuner measures against. The default is 440 Hz, and you can choose from 432 Hz to 446 Hz in 2 Hz steps.

Offset (Semitones)

Shifts the target notes up or down by up to five semitones. Use this when your instrument is tuned down or up from standard, such as a half step down. The default is 0.

Input

This screen chooses which audio input OnSong listens through — the built-in microphone, a USB or line-in interface, a headset, Bluetooth, AirPlay, or OnSong AuxBox hardware. The list updates live as you connect and disconnect gear, and a checkmark shows the input in use.

Automatic

Automatic lets OnSong use whichever input is currently connected, choosing for you as devices come and go. Its subtitle shows the input in use right now. Pick this if you’d rather not think about it.

Available

Under Available, you’ll see every input connected right now, each with its name and an icon for its type. Tap one to use it — OnSong switches immediately and remembers your choice.

Previously Connected

Inputs you’ve used before but that aren’t plugged in right now appear here, dimmed. Tap one to make it your preferred input for when you reconnect it — OnSong confirms with Use When Available. Swipe left on a row and tap Forget to drop it from the list.
