Look Ma, I'm Fancy!

Formatting in OnSong lets you basically bedazzle your lyrics in the song editor so they look all fancy & sparkly when you're singin' 'em. (You\u{2019}re welcome.)

Line Formatting

Wanna make an ENTIRE line look dramatic? Use some weird magic squiggles at the start of your lines in text-based chord charts & boom—whole thing gets the treatment. Like, slap an asterisk in front & congrats, it\u{2019}s bold now:

*This line will be bold

Riveting stuff.

Inline Formatting

Oh ZOMG, OnSong 2024 came thru & now you can format just the words that matter (so like, 3 words per song probably). But only if you\u{2019}re already nerdy enough to be using the R2 rendering engine. Wrap your text & magic characters in angle brackets (you know, < & >) like this:

This <*word is bold> and this isn\u{2019}t

Subtle flex.

Formatting Syntax

There\u{2019}s a whole alphabet of weird characters you can throw at your lyrics to make them Do Things. Stack \u{2019}em together if you\u{2019}re feeling extra:

!&red:This line is red, bold, and italicized.
This <_>yellow:word or phrase> is highlighted and underlined.

Head on over to formatting syntax if you actually wanna learn what all these squiggles do. (Spoiler: there\u{2019}s like, way more than you\u{2019}d ever need.)
