Tempo Settin's
OnSong can send th' current tempo o' th' song as a MIDI MSB/LSB control change, and it can follow a tempo sent th' same way by another device. Fer instance, if th' tempo o' th' song be 96, OnSong would set th' first MSB MIDI command t' 0 and th' second LSB t' 96. Combined, this would equal 96. If th' tempo be set t' 130, OnSong would send MSB 1 and LSB 2. Since th' MSB be equal t' th' value multiplied by 128, this would equal 130 (128 + 2).
Sync Mode
Choose how OnSong shares tempo with other devices, savvy? Th' Lead and Follow sections only appear when their direction be turned on.
- Off neither sends nor follows tempo. Default.
- Both sends OnSong's tempo and follows tempo sent by another device.
- Lead sends OnSong's tempo t' other devices.
- Follow adopts th' tempo sent by another device.
Lead
These settin's control how OnSong sends its tempo, matey.
Channel
Choose a channel or all channels fer sendin' tempo. Whenever th' tempo in OnSong be changed, th' MIDI values be sent t' inform compatible apps and hardware. Settin' th' channel t' Off will prevent MIDI from bein' sent.
Repeat
By default, th' tempo MIDI commands will be sent once when th' song be loaded. If ye intend t' change th' tempo o' th' song or if yer MIDI devices require, ye can send th' MIDI multiple times. Options include: Continuously, Once (default), Twice, 3 Times, 4 Times and 5 Times.
Delay
This lets ye choose how long OnSong waits after th' tempo changes before it sends th' MIDI commands. Options include: None (default), 1 Second, 2 Seconds, 5 Seconds, 10 Seconds, 15 Seconds, and 30 Seconds.
Interval
This lets ye choose th' time between each repeat o' th' MIDI commands. It appears when Repeat be set t' somethin' other than Once. Options include: Never, and every 1, 2, 5, 10, 15 or 30 seconds.
MIDI Commands
By default, OnSong will send MIDI tempo changes with Control Change events as CC 106/107. Since there be no standard control change that tempo information be sent, ye may need t' customize this pair. Enter th' MSB and LSB controllers separated by a space, such as "CC106 CC107." Don't include values, since th' value sent be th' tempo itself, divided accordin' t' th' MSB Tempo Value.
MSB Tempo Value
This number be used t' determine how th' tempo be divided between two MIDI events. Since MIDI be limited t' 128 values, and since tempos often exceed 128 BPM, it be necessary t' use an MSB/LSB pattern common in MIDI. Th' default value be 128. That means t' send a tempo o' 156 BPM, th' first MIDI event would contain a "1" representin' 128 and th' second MIDI event would contain th' difference o' 156-128 or 28. Th' receivin' MIDI device combines these values, multiplies th' first by 128 and adds th' second resultin' in 156. MIDI devices that support this will have this value documented and be usually 100 or 128.
Follow
These settin's control how OnSong listens fer tempo sent by another device, Arrr!
Channel
Choose th' channel, or all channels, that OnSong listens on fer tempo. Settin' th' channel t' Off ignores incomin' tempo.
MIDI Commands
Th' MSB and LSB controllers that OnSong listens t' fer tempo, such as "CC106 CC107." By default, this uses th' same pair as Lead.
MSB Tempo Value
Th' number used t' combine th' two incomin' values into a tempo. By default, this matches th' Lead value. It must match th' value th' sendin' device uses, or every tempo will be read incorrectly, savvy?
If Lead and Follow use th' same channel and controllers, a warnin' appears below this section. If they be th' same device, or MIDI loops back through Virtual MIDI or a network session, OnSong could hear its own tempo and get all tangled in th' rigging, ye scallywag!
