Live Streaming

Live Streaming sends what OnSong shows on the external screen to NDI® receivers on your network, to a streaming service such as YouTube or Facebook, or to both at once. Open it by tapping the Live button in the lower left corner of the External Video Menu. Live Streaming is part of OnSong Premium.

Configure The Stream

Before you go live, you'll want to configure the stream with the following options:

Source

You can choose what gets streamed including:

  • Lyrics Projection to stream the lyrics screen with background colors, still and motion backgrounds, and live video.
  • Stage Monitor to stream the stage monitor for sharing chord charts with the band.

Resolution

Choose between 720p or 1080p which determines the quality. The higher the number, the more bandwidth is required to stream.

Frame Rate

Choose 24 fps, 30 fps or 60 fps. If you choose 1080p or 60 fps while your device isn’t on a wired network, OnSong suggests a wired connection, which works best for higher resolutions and frame rates.

Audio

Turn on Send Audio to send OnSong’s main mix along with the picture.

Choose Your Destinations

Once you've configured the stream, you can determine how it gets sent:

  • NDI® sends to NDI receivers on the same network, such as video switchers and streaming software. This switch is turned off on devices that can’t send NDI.
  • RTMP sends to a streaming service or your own server. When it is on, choose YouTube, Facebook or Custom. For Custom, enter your server’s address, starting with rtmp://. Then enter your Stream Key. OnSong tells you where to find the stream key for YouTube or Facebook.

Go Live

Tap Go Live at the bottom of the screen to start streaming to the destinations you have turned on. The button is available once at least one destination is ready. While you’re live, the button changes to Stop Streaming and OnSong shows where the stream is going, including the name NDI receivers can choose and the server receiving the RTMP stream. The settings below can’t be changed while you’re live.

Tip

Turn on both NDI® and RTMP to feed your video switcher and stream online at the same time.

If the stream can’t start, OnSong shows a **Could Not Go Live alert explaining why. If a stream stops on its own, for example when the network drops, you see a Live Streaming Stopped alert.**
