Ableton Link

The Ableton Link screen keeps OnSong’s tempo and beat in step with Ableton Live and other Link-enabled apps on the same Wi-Fi network. Apps join the session automatically, so there is nothing to connect. Open it from MIDI Settings under Beat Sync. To learn how Link works with the rest of OnSong, see Ableton Link.

This row shows whether Ableton Link is On or Off. Tap it to open Ableton’s own settings panel, where you turn Link on or off and see how many apps are in the session. Tap Done to return.

Sync Mode

This chooses how OnSong’s tempo relates to the rest of the Link session:

  • Both shares the tempo both ways. Changing the tempo in OnSong changes it for everyone, and a change made elsewhere is adopted here. Default.
  • Lead makes peers follow OnSong. If a peer changes the session tempo, OnSong puts its own tempo back.
  • Follow adopts the session tempo and never pushes OnSong’s tempo to peers.

Status

The Connection row shows the state of the session and updates while the screen is open:

  • Connected means at least one other Link app is in the session.
  • Searching… means Ableton Link is on but hasn’t found another app yet.
  • Off means Ableton Link isn’t running.

If Connection stays on Searching… while another Link app is running, check that both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network and that the network lets devices see each other.
